Career of Christian Sautter, Honorary President of France Active 

A former Minister of the Economy, Prefect of the Île-de-France region, and Deputy Mayor of Paris, he served as president of France Active from 2000 to 2018.

Christian Sautter is a French politician and member of the Socialist Party. A graduate of the École Polytechnique, ENSAE (1965), and Sciences Po Paris, he began his career as an administrator at INSEE in 1965. 

He subsequently held key positions in government and politics: 

•    Technical advisor on international economic issues at the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic (1981–1982) 

•    Deputy Secretary-General of the Élysée under François Mitterrand (1982–1985, then 1988–1990) 

•    Prefect of the Île-de-France region and Paris (1990–1993) 

•    Secretary of State for the Budget (1997–1999), then Minister of the Economy, Finance, and Industry (1999–2000) in the Jospin administration. 

In 2000, he became president of France Active. For 18 years, he played a decisive role in supporting socially committed entrepreneurs by strengthening financial tools to facilitate access to credit for those leading solidarity-based projects. He is now honorary president of France Active and remains a key figure in the social and solidarity economy, notably as vice president of the Labo de l’ESS. 

At the same time, he served as deputy mayor of Paris (2001–2014), responsible for Employment, Economic Development, and International Attractiveness.
